Meet Kim
Certified Life Coach, Shamanic Practitioner (in Peruvian and Irish traditions), Reiki Master and visual artist.
I began my journey as a visual artist as a teen and my artwork was about connecting to my subconscious, spiritual realms and dream states to find muses and inspiration. This artwork served, and continues to serve, as a vehicle for my own self discovery, personal growth and development. Gallery of early works below.
I graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a Bachelor's Degree in Art and a Minor in Psychology in 1999. I moved to Barcelona, Spain for five years and while there, earned my Master’s Degree in Digital Media Production and Computer Programming at La Salle University.
When I was 25 years old, I met a shaman named Lone Wolf Banks. After our first session, she transformed my life forever by performing a Shamanic Healing session that removed a large amount of dark matter I was holding on to in my stomach. I could actually feel the release of the toxic matter and could have floated away at the lightness I felt afterward. There was no denying that this work was incredible and real and I continued to work with Lone Wolf for many years.
Life got busy and I began a career in New York City as the Director of Operations for an international company and later as Chief Operating Officer for a national behavioral health company. I earned a second Master’s Degree in Public Administration in Healthcare and poured my heart and soul into my work. Growing up in a low income family and feeling the remnants of embarrassment and shame from those who ridiculed me, I pushed myself beyond my limits to gain degrees, earn a living, work hard and excel at my career. I made more money than I ever dreamed and was living comfortably, but sensed something was missing in my spiritual life and felt the effects of a physical illness rearing its head at this same time.
After surgeries failed and I was put on various medications, I decided to return to a spiritual and shamanic path and received my Reiki Certification in Brooklyn. I began practicing Reiki with caregivers and cancer patients and this work opened my eyes to the love of being of service to others on a personal level.
From there, I did a yearlong life coaching program in Massachusetts with iPEC Coaching that started the process of a radical change in my mindset.
I continued to do another 2 year training program in Shamanic practices and Transpersonal Coaching in Connecticut with Natalie Griffin.
After all of this work, I realized I did not need medications daily anymore. I felt vibrant and alive again. I knew this was the work I needed to do, to share this process with others.
We all have the power within ourselves to heal ourselves. I empower people to access that power.
Next I began studying Irish Shamanic (Seabhean) practices and did a pilgrimage to Ireland with Amantha Murphy. Here I began integrating more work with the Goddesses and Priestesses of ancient Ireland. Images below.
I went on to deepen my knowledge with a professional training in Past Life Regression with Dr. Brian Weiss, groundbreaking psychiatrist and best-selling author of “Many Lives, Many Masters” and leading expert on Past Life Regression. Past life regression has been a tool I have used myself for the past 15 years to better understand my life in this incarnation, soul contracts, karmic ties and past life connections to present people in my life. The opportunity to train with Dr. Weiss was a once in a lifetime experience that I am pleased to share with my clients this technique to assist in their soul journey as well.
Most recently, I continued to do my own personal work via psychedelic assisted therapy. As a healing practitioner, I place high priority on always doing my own work to be a clear and neutral vessel to allow my clients to remain in their own sacred space as I simply guide and channel for their highest good without ever allowing my own influence to interfere. Through my own personal work with this modality I was able to transform my connection to mind, body and spirit and open clearer channels to our higher power and realms. This work solidified my own knowing of each one of us as part of a whole, we are all one. By remembering our collective consciousness, we can draw strength, beauty, love and peace. God eternal, within the body. As above, so below. We all have within ourselves everything that we have ever needed. I am here to assist people in finding their own truth.
I have found the perfect union of my life passions by creating The Venus Studio. I work with clients 1:1 and in small groups through shamanic healing, journey work, energy body work, reiki, intuitive transpersonal life coaching, ceremonies (fire, cacao, goddess connection, etc), past life regressions and art that feeds your soul.
My signature art experience is having a ‘Journey Soul Portrait’ painted by me based on the journey experienced in the shamanic session/s. These portraits remain as a tangible element for the client to keep and continue their own self healing.
In the shamanic sessions, either 1:1 or in small groups, I act as a mediator between the spiritual and physical planes. I show up to each session, only to be of service and allow the work to flow through me, empower each client to find their own answers and truths, offer what I see, sense or feel for them and then the client always has the option to take it or leave it. I never offer ‘advice’ and only guide people to see more clearly. In our questions, we find power. In that space, we find possibilities.
Original Wound and Soul Retrieval Story
Below is an excerpt of something I wrote after a session during my shaman training. This is just one example of the ‘work’ that I do.
We went into the Chamber of Original Wound to find my source of pain, blockage and stuckness. I followed a path via a string of pearls and found each one leading me deeper into a fear of mine: speaking up for myself.
As a child and teen, I was very quiet and people always asked me why I didn’t talk, making me feel invisible. I wasn’t talking because I suffered abuse at the hands of a family friend when I was quite young and out of intense fear, I held it in for years, not telling anyone until I was in my 20s.
I worked through that trauma, but it continued to affect me and I was still afraid to speak up, decades later.
During this session, my throat literally began to close and I couldn’t breathe. As this happened, I began to sense (in my spiritual reality) what was holding my throat closed. It was a metal cog attached to a metal rod that went down my back and attached to a pair of black dragon wings. Not the cool kind of dragon wings, ones that were crippling, heavy and holding me stuck.
My shaman did a solid extraction and removed the cog and metal winged contraption from my energetic body. I collapsed as my shaman co-workers filled up that space where it had lived for so long with beautiful and filling light.
Next, we went on to locate a soul part to retrieve. As we went into the Chamber of Grace, we were given a pair of Black Wings as my soul part to retrieve and I was fearful. I didn’t want them back.
But, as we went back to clarify about these wings, we realized they were different wings. They were the wings of a Black Swan! This had so much meaning because the black swan for me symbolized embracing my shadow and darkness with grace, and in turn, finding more light and beauty.
I received and integrated this soul gift of the black swan wings and I draw upon this power daily.
